As a key part of this year’s annual Festival of Speed – held from 2-4 July – Goodwood staged its very first Aviation Show, which proved to be an immensely popular addition to the Festival, which attracted a record 176,000 visitors this year.
The inaugural Goodwood Aviation Show was held in response to an overwhelming demand from exhibitors to enable manufacturers of fixed wing and rotary aircraft – plus important aviation service suppliers – to showcase their latest products at the celebrated West Sussex-based annual event.
Participation exhibitors included Pilatus, Patriot Aviation, Honeywell, Hawker Beechcraft, Nicholas McLaren Aviation, Conciair, Red Box, Loop and Close Aviation Finance. All exhibitors enjoyed such strong interest in their products that in principal each company has already expressed their intention to display again at the 2011 Goodwood Aviation Show, as have a number of other aviation-related businesses.
Commenting on his attendance at the inaugural Goodwood Aviation Show, Bob Berry, Chairman of the Bournemouth-based Pilatus Centre that distributes the Swiss-built aircraft for the UK, Ireland and Spain said, “We are very pleased with the results and we have already booked our space again for next year’s show.” He continues, “The interest from potential buyers in our PC-12 aircraft has directly resulted in the bookings of demonstration flights and introductory meetings from visitors to our display stand at Goodwood.”
Mike Husband, the Manager of the Goodwood Aerodrome added, “The initial idea to stage an Aviation Show as part of the annual Festival of Speed was largely driven by customer demand, and the excellent results achieved have confirmed what a winning idea this was.” He added, “We know that around a third of all those attending the Festival of Speed either have a private pilot’s licence, hire charter aircraft or have a very strong interest in aviation, and the Goodwood Aviation Show has proven to offer a superb opportunity for the aviation industry to gain real exposure to a huge high net worth audience.”
More details and dates for the 2011 Goodwood Aviation Show will be announced in the coming months.
